SWF Header for 4/10/25

Another week, another round of Skywatch Friday. I appreciate everybody's participation!! I took the above photo back in April 2015 and I have no memory of where I took it. I am guessing that it is at Oxley Nature Center in Tulsa. I still like it though.

This is what our front yard used to look like. We had two pear trees in the front yard for years. They are not Bradford Pears, I forget what kind they are. Pretty but when they bloomed they stunk plus they were bad for the allergies. I remember the first time that my Forest Ranger dad visited us in our new home. We picked him up at the airport and when we pulled into the driveway he said, "Those are two crappy looking trees, Alan." (You can tell where I got my silver tongue from right.) The problem is that the trees are weak. They branch a lot and the branches are weak points. They eventually split apart. We still haven't replaced them yet. I'm good with that, the grass does better without the trees.

BA Dog Park

Spring means it's time to visit the local dog parks again and get acquainted and reacquainted with the various dogs and owners that are out and about enjoying the nice weather before it gets hot.

Skywatch Friday - Ozark Mountain Sunset

20100321_96

This week's header shot is from fifteen years ago. A sunset view from our cabin in Branson, Missouri home of Silver Dollar City. When our son was younger we went once a year or so. Lots of rides, lots of stuff to see. We haven't been back in a while.

The Petroleum Club building in downtown Tulsa from back in 2016.

I'm still under the weather from my full knee replacment last week. I'm making good progress on recovery. I apologize but I won't be able to visit too many blogs in the near future.

Expo Square Train2

This is a locomotive parked as an exhibit at the Tulsa Fairgrounds. It spent it's working life deep in the forests of Southeast Oklahoma pulling lumber trains for a logging company. This photo was taken ten years ago, since then, a group of retired railroad company employees have taken it over and really spruced it up. They are looking for a new home for it. I love old train stuff, what can I say! I worked for a short time for the oil and gas sub of Union Pacific Railroad. They still send me their railroad calendar every year and I love it.

Turkey Mountain under a Full Moon

Another photo from yesteryear, February 2015. A reminder that back in the day when I worked I used to run the trails at Turkey Mountain at night. I carried a headlamp and a hand light and ran all over that mountain for miles in the dark. There were a few times where I didn't know where I was but I never got lost! (figure that one out). I tripped and fell a few times which hurt.

I have knee surgery coming up early next week (falling on the mountain at night didn't help.) I am preparing next week's SWF post this week so it should be good to go at the usual time next Thursday, the 20th.

Son Logan participating in Therapeutic Horseback Riding at a facility about a half hour north of Tulsa. He did this for years and got pretty good at riding. We did this every Saturday morning for a long time. I was kind of the unofficial photogrpher for the outfit, which is no longer in business. I took photos of the other kids and gave them to their parents.

Skywatch Friday - 30 January 2025 Edition

IMG_7705

A blast from the past. January 2012. I was still working on the 17th floor of a Tulsa high rise building with a great view looking west. I took lots of skywatch photos up there during the winter months. During the summer it didn't get dark until late plus we had daylight savings time so I wasn't stay up there that long. I hope you are not disappointed in my lack of dedication.

Skywatch Friday - New Year 2025 Edition

DSCN3006

Welcome back and a Happy New Year 2025 to everyone! I appreciate everybody's participation and love that skywatch, like all the other photoblogger memes is in a gentle corner of the internet. I love how everybody is so welcoming and supportive of each other.

The photo is from my archives and shows cows grazing in a pecan orchard under a not bad Oklahoma January winter sky.
